PELLICULAR DENTAL VENEERS – With or without preparation

Technological advances:

As technology in the dental field is rapidly evolving, the Summum Dental Laboratory team is constantly on the lookout for innovative solutions to support dental professionals in resolving aesthetic cases.
This evolution brings about new therapeutic avenues, enabling dentists to make informed decisions that translate into better aesthetic outcomes for their patients.

After tooth whitening, a simple and easy aesthetic dentistry treatment can be provided by placing no-preparation (Noprep) pellicular veneers, i.e., without reduction of the supporting teeth or with minimally invasive enamel reduction during preparation.

Veneer indications

✅ Improved appearence of the smile
✅ Irregular free edges
✅ Slight rotations or versioning of teeth
✅ Dyschromia
✅ Changes in enamel surface finish
✅ Interdental spaces – Diastemas

Planning and Virtual Design – CAD

A 3D virtual prototype is created/modeled on 3Shape software to present and validate the aesthetic project with the patient and dental professional.

Objectives:

  • Diagnose the initial condition and preview the final outcome.
  • Determine the therapeutics required for success.
  • Improve communications between the dental professional and the patient.
  • Strengthen the relationship with professionals by supporting them in their choice of treatment plan and analyzing the clinical situation of each patient.
  • Achieve optimal aesthetics in harmony with the face, in line with the expectations of the patient and dental professional and in keeping the aesthetic vision.

Simple and Easy Workflow:

1) In-mouth aesthetic fitting: Optional

To visualize the desired final objective, and at the dental professional’s request, the designer creates a white shell which is a “mock up” model simulating the forecasted modifications without affecting the patient’s teeth. This model is tried on in the mouth to show the patient his or her future smile and to simulate the potential results of the treatment.

2) Colour selection:

The choice of colour is one of the key elements in the aesthetic success of final restorations. In fact, this step is of the utmost importance. The challenge for prothesis technicians is to reproduce natural colouring and light dynamics in confined spaces.

a. Colour of dental piles: If preparing a size

b. Desired final colour of restorations: If whitening, after colour stabilization

3) Temporization :

When the patient and dentist are satisfied with the aesthetic results presented, the virtual matrix prepared on the virtual wax-up, is applied in the mouth to create temporary restorations using a flowable temporary composite.

4) Designing final restorations:

Laboratory technicians have the technical expertise and experience necessary to advise our dental professionals on the type of veneer best suited to each patient and clinical situation.
Once the aesthetic project has been validated, the veneer designs are begun at the Laboratory with the utmost care, respecting functional and aesthetic parameters.

Examples of clinical cases with highly aesthetic veneers:

Clinical situation #1:

Aesthetic mandible restoration for rotation and versioning of the anterior teeth following the absence of an incisor. Missing incisor 32 resulted in mandible versioning. Restorations performed on 33, 31, 41 and 42.

Clinical situation #2:

Aesthetic restoration of the maxilla and mandible with colour lightened veneers due to moderate tetracycline discolouration.

Clinical situation #3: After orthodontic  treatment

Bonding procedure for final placement:

For final veneer placement, the tooth substance is appropriately conditioned, and the veneers are etched with hydrofluoric acid and sintered. The veneers are placed in a fully adhesive manner using a bonding composite. Despite the restricted space conditions, veneers have excellent light dynamics and chromatic rendering with a depth effect.
